Holy Orders

“Becoming a priest or a man or woman religious is not primarily our own decision…. Rather it is the response to a call and to a call of love.”
Pope Francis

About the Sacrament

The Sacrament of Holy Orders is a sacred calling through which men are ordained to serve the Church as deacons, priests, or bishops. It is a vocation of deep commitment, service, and love, rooted in Christ’s own mission to shepherd His people.

At St. Alphonsus Church, we support and encourage those who may be discerning a call to the priesthood or diaconate. We believe that vocations grow through prayer, community, and a willingness to listen to God’s voice. If you or someone you know feels drawn to a life of ordained ministry, we invite you to reach out. Our parish clergy are available to talk, offer guidance, and help you take the first steps in discernment.

We also ask our parish family to pray for vocations regularly—so that those whom God is calling may have the courage to respond with generosity and faith.

For more information about vocations or the process of discerning Holy Orders, please contact the parish office or speak with one of our priests or deacons after Mass.
